about

I hope you hear this when you need it. However you take care of yourself, take care. Sometimes all I do is watch TV and that seems to be enough. I want to stop comparing myself so much- recognize this season as a tricky one and push push through. If you talk to someone you miss in the mirror at night or you have unfinished business with your brain or an apology to make or a freakishly low amount of money in your bank account, I wrote this song hoping you’d listen. It helps me say all my scary truths loud loud loud & try to let myself off the hook. Today-as far as I’m concerned, you’re off the hook.

lyrics

I read a book on grief
It told me to lay in bed
To picture you standing there
And what you would have said
I go to the corner store
I get a Big Gulp of guilt
I pour it on the floor just to watch it spill

'Cause all I do is watch TV
I thank my lucky stars those people aren't me
But I'm still staring at a screen
Why do I compare
Because comparing is free

When I can't sleep at night
I listen to true crime
Is that my twisted brain
Trying to pass the time
Maybe if you were here
You'd say you were too mean
Maybe if you were here
You'd be a drag queen

'Cause all I do is watch TV
I thank my lucky stars those people aren't me
But I'm still staring at a screen
Why do I compare
Because comparing is free

All I need is eighty summers
To get my shit together
All I need is eighty summers
To get my shit together

All I do is watch TV
I thank my lucky stars those people aren't me
But I'm still staring at a screen
Why do I compare
Because comparing is free
All I do is watch TV
But I'm still staring at a screen

about

Al Olender Kingston, New York

There’s nothing scarier than being honest with yourself. For singer/songwriter Al Olender, facing her fear of the truth has been a cleansing, often cathartic process that’s led to the kind of revelations she had previously thought unobtainable. On her debut full-length album Easy Crier, the Upstate New York based artist asks: what happens if we vow to never tell a lie, ever again? ... more
